An international seminar entitled Vietnam-Laos solidarity in the construction and development of the resistance base in northwest Laos took place in the Lao northwestern province of Sayaboury on June 4.

The seminar, co-chaired by To Huy Rua, Politburo member and head of the Information and Education Commission (IEC) of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Samane Viyaketh, Politburo member and head of the Steering Committee for Ideology, Theory and Culture (SCITC) of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, drew the participation of 150 delegates from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Samane stated that the seminar aimed to review the traditional solidarity of Vietnam and Laos and further tighten the two countries special relationship.

It would also illuminate great contributions by the Lao army and people together with Vietnamese volunteer soldiers on the battlefields in northwest Laos to educate young people on the traditional solidarity between the two countries, he said.

Concluding the seminar, To Huy Rua highlighted the resistance base in northwest Laos as a manifestation of the Indochinese Communist Party's spirit, intelligence and vision for the revolutionary cause of Laos in particular and the three Indochinese countries in general.

He praised the achievements that the two countries have made during their struggles for national independence in the past as well as in their current socio-economic development. On the sidelines of the seminar, former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts and their Lao comrades met to reminisce about their war memories.
