Interestingly, Toto is a very young talented man with highly excellent background. His working experiences and his commitment role in the reliable organization such as Levi is highly recognized internationally.

His full name is Ponsinh Boutkaska, and nickname is Toto, and he is 36 years old. He was originally born in Vientiane Laos. Toto has one older sister and one younger sister who both live in Australia. Toto is the middle child and the only boy in the family. Ponsinh's father is 100% Lao from Khuay Daeng Village, and his mother is Mon/Chinese born in Thailand but grew up in Dong Dok in Laos.

Not only Toto is natively spoken in English, but he also is fluent in Lao and Thai. Toto said "...I speak Lao, Thai and English and I can read both Lao and Thai. I first learnt to read Lao in my twenties, so I asked my mother to teach me as she was a teacher in Lao. I have not practiced writing Lao very much so my writing is not very nice..."

Next, we ask him his favorite quote, and he replied "...One of my favorite quotes is that “today is just one of many moments in time” – I try to remind myself if ever I get stressed or if I have a bad day that this will not last forever, and that there will be a beautiful day ahead for me soon..."

Toto did his schooling in Australia since he was young. Primary school at Mount Pritchard East, high school at Westfields Sports High School, university at the University of New South Wales studying Textile Management, and surprisingly he received his master degree at SASIN Chulalongkorn University in Thailand (Masters of Business Administration). Toto added "... I was also the Class President. My work experience has been with Effem Foods (Pedigree, and Whiskas), Unilever (Regional Comfort, Indochina looking after Pond’s, Vaseline, and also Mongolia), Samsung (Business Development Manager) ..."

Currently, Ponsinh is working at DKSH (Thailand) Limited where he is appointed as the Executive Department Manager for Marketing. We questioned about his main roles in that particular area and his favorite firm that he had been working with, Toto clearly answered "...I look after Levi’s Thailand, Levi’s Cambodia, Levi’s Lao (in the future) and also Docker’s Thailand. The firms that I love the most are Unilever where I got my hands on experience in marketing, and also DKSH (Thailand) Limited where I am able to help change the fashion scene in Thailand because Levi’s is such a big brand..."

Further, we quickly ask him about the difference of the two brands that he is responsible for the marketing strategy and its brand image of the company, he precisely replied "...Levi’s and Docker’s are two brands that are different in their life cycle. He added further "...My role is mostly on the marketing side, but I have a big influence on what clothes we produce as I go to Hong Kong with the product team every month to update on the trends for Levi’s in the Asian region. I also am in charge of all the pictures, the visual in all 130 shops around Thailand as well as holding the budget to excite the market with creative and innovative marketing. As for Docker’s, it has only been in the Thai market for 3 years, so the objective right now is for consumers to know that Docker’s is in the market, and that we provide the best Khaki pants..."

Next question we asked is why it is so important for one firm to have a very talented and sophisticated marketing manager? Ponsinh said ..."It is important for firms to hire talented and sophisticated Marketing Managers because marketing is not static. The Marketing Manager must know about people; what their needs are, what compels them to buy, what their passions are and what is their way of life. Marketing like people are dynamic, sometimes people lead marketing, and at other times marketing can influence people. So a Marketing Manager needs to be energetic, and be on the look out for ideas and innovations that will bring marketing initiatives to great new levels – all the time..."

Toto has mentioned about his recent life, and what he has been through, "...At 36, I have been through many things in life and through it all I learnt a lot about myself and others. I no longer stay up all night thinking about my future, I no longer let heart breaks affect how I live my life. At this moment in my life, I am very happy, and any other good thing that comes into my life is just a bonus..."

Toto describes his impression about Lao language and culture "...Laos is my birth country, and many of my relatives still live there. Lao is the first language I spoke, and I speak it with many of my Lao friends and family. Lao is a beautiful language as is also the original language of many people in Thailand. The Thai language itself is actually Lao with many new words from the influence of Mon, Khmer, English and many others. I am very proud of the Lao language. What I love about Laos is that we keep the Lao culture close to our hearts. Our women wear the traditional “Sin”, and Lao people are proud people who care and share with one another..."

Ponsinh additionally pictured out how Lao and Thailand shared the same values, cultures and traditional lifestyle "...The difference I see in Thailand and Laos is not that much - caring, sharing and love of its traditions. However, what I do see as a big difference is Bangkok. It is a city with 10 million people, very developed and modern. Whether in Laos, other parts of Thailand, or even Bangkok, there is beauty in all different ways..."

Lao is one of the poorest countries in the South East Asian Region, but it is not the poorest in its heart. I would like Lao people to have pride in being good people, and that our hearts are actually one of the richest in the South East Asian Region. With this richness in heart, we will survive everything, no matter how rich or poor we are.
The next thing I would like Laos to focus on is English education. When we can communicate with others around the world, we have a voice, and it can be heard. If we cannot communicate, then people can misunderstand us and forget us. The next thing will be infrastructure. With easier access to move around, we can appreciate the beauty of our country even more, but not only that, the Lao economy like blood through its veins can invigorate the economy in all parts of the country.
ໃນເລື່ອງການພັດທະນາ ຫຼື ທິດທາງໃນການຫຼຸດພົ້ນອອກຈາກຄວາມຍາກຈົນນັ້ນ ໂຕໂຕ້ໄດ້ຊີ້ແນວທາງວ່າ "...ລາວເປັນປະເທດທີ່ຍາກຈົນທີ່ສຸດ ໃນພູມມີພາກເອເຊຍຕາເວັນອອກສຽງໃຕ້ ແຕ່ບໍ່ໄດ້ແລ້ງນ້ຳໃຈ ຂ້ອຍຢາກໃຫ້ຄົນລາວມີຄວາມພູມໃຈໃນການເປັນຄົນດີ ແລະ ຫົວໃຈຄົນລາວມີ ຄວາມຮັ່ງມີແລະຈະເລີ່ນທີ່ສຸດ ດ້ວຍການມີຈິດໃຈທີ່ດີນີ້ ພວກເຮົາຈະສາມາດ ເອົາຕົວລອດໄດ້ບໍ່ວາຈະຈົນຫຼືລວຍ
ການພັດທະນາປະເທດນັ້ນ ແມ່ນຢາກໃຫ້ເອົາໃຈໃສ່ການສຶກສາທາງດ້ານພາສາອັງກິດ ເພາະການຕິດຕໍ່ສື່ສານລະຫວ່າງກັນທົ່ວໂລກ ສຽງນ້ອຍໆຂອງເຮົາກໍ່ຈະໄດ້ຍິນທົ່ວເຖິງກັນ ຖ້າສື່ສານບໍ່ເຂົ້າໃຈກັນຄົນອື່ນເຂົ້າໃຈຜິດແລະລື່ມພວກເຮົາໄປເລີຍ ນອກຈາກເລື່ອງການສຶກສາແລ້ວແມ່ນ ການພັດທະນາລະບົບໂຄ່ງສ້າງພື້ນຖານຂອງປະເທດ ຖ້າມີຄວາມສະດວກສະບາຍໃນການໄປມາຫາກັນ ພວກເຮົາຈະສາມາດຊື່ນຊົມຄວາມສວຍງາມ ຂອງປະເທດຂຶ້ນຕື່ມອີກ ແລະ ອີກສິ່ງໜຶ່ງທີຂາດບໍ່ໄດ້ກໍ່ຄື ເສດຖະກິດຂອງປະເທດ ເພາະປຽບສະເຫມືອນສາຍເລືອດທີ່ລໍ່ລ້ຽງໃຫ້ເພີ່ມພະລັງໃນການ ດັນເສດຖະກິດໃນທຸກພາກສ່ວນຂອງປະເທດໃຫ້ຈະເລີ່ນເຕີບໂຕ..."
What I would like to tell Lao youths is that you need to be a good and sincere person. There will be many obstacles and conflicts in finding your own way to live your life. However, you need to be a good and honest person. It doesn’t matter how rich or poor you are because good people will see good people. Good people will not judge you for what you have or where you are from. If you are a good person, and you are happy with your life, then that is the greatest success of all.

To be successful in business, you need to develop a systematic way of thinking, be good with numbers and develop good communications skills – you must also not give up too easily, because obstacles and hard work will develop your character.
ຕໍ່ມາໄດ້ຖາມເລື່ອງການປະສົບຜົນສຳເລັດໃນທາງທຸລະກິດນັ້ນຕ້ອງເຮັດແນວໃດ ໂຕໂຕ້ຕອບວ່າ "...ການປະສົບຜົນສຳເລັດໃນທາງທຸລະກິດ ເຈົ້າຕ້ອງພັດທະນາລະບົບທາງການຄິດ ຕ້ອງເກັ່ງເລື່ອງຕົວເລກ ແລະ ພັດທະນາທັກສະໃນການສື່ສານທີ່ດີ ແລະຢ່າຍອມແພ້ໂດຍງ່າຍ ເພາະອຸປະສັກ ແລະ ງານໜັກໆເຫຼົ່ານັ້ນຈະພັດທະນາຕົວເຈົ້າເອງ..."
I am not too sure what my future will hold, but now and even in the future I will never forget my Lao roots. I currently support the education of my relatives, and give books, pens and toys to the local school at Khuay Daeng Village. In the future, I would like to teach Lao youths about the richness in being a good and sincere person.

I am not too sure if I will pursue a Ph.D in the future, but if the opportunity arises then I may choose to do so.

I want the Lao youths to know that I am a Lao boy from the Village of Khuay Daeng – and the reason that I can be an Executive in a big company in Thailand is because I have been taught to be a good and sincere person from my parents. Life can be harsh and difficult, but after life’s storm, only the good and sincere can survive and prosper.
