The National Committee for the Elderly held a meeting on April 27 to review the implementation of government policies on aged people in Laos and give directions and their implementation according to the current socio-economic conditions.

The meeting drew the attendance of Standing Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for the Elderly, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mrs. Onechanh Thammavong, and relevant officials.

The Lao National Committee for the Elderly has been a member of the International Federation on Ageing 
since 1999.

The Lao government pays attention to the development of living condition of aged people by making effort in devising practical policies on aged people and has cooperated with international organisations on implementing activities to improve living condition of the elderly.
