The President Steering Committee on National Poverty Reduction and Rural Development, Mr Onneua Phommachanh, paid a working visit to Bokeo province, from 27 to 28 April.

Mr Onneua Phommachane heard a report on development situation of Bokeo province over the past six months of this year ranging from grass root construction, village development cluster from Mr Amphone Chanthasomboun, Deputy Governor of Bokeo province.

He has highlighted that over the past six months, the provincial authorities paid attention to development village group in four focal areas out of 10 groups. The national defence and security is a main key has been conducted in this area.

The 45 projects on socio-economic development counting for 43 billion kip were operated in the province over the first six months of this year.

Under the Provincial Poverty Reduction and Rural Development Programme, 131 development funds and 112 village development funds with a total of 4 billion kip and 9,000 members have been set up.

The Government has also injected 2 billion kip into the village development fund, and 223 million kip was a contribution of locals.

Over the past six, the development works in Bokeo province was satisfied with the progress of the reduction of illiteracy rate for adults in 232 villages, establishment of model public health in six villages and 347 cultural families in this province.
